Practice Guide

Just about anyone who understands the concept of music knows that it requires a lot of practice and dedication to do it right. Although it’s something that all musicians need to do in order to improve, practicing is a unique experience for everyone doing it! In this guide, we offer a few a few tips, tools and trick to help you make the most out of your at-home practice! Have questions about how to practice? Ask your instructor or show director!

SETTING A ROUTINE

The keys to practicing are having a schedule and having a plan! We recommend at least 20 minutes every day of focused practice at home! When setting up your routine, make sure to do the following:
  • Set up a distraction-free spot in your home that you can always go to for practice.
  • Set up a schedule! Schedule at least 20 minutes a day for at least 5 days!
  • Make a plan! Know what you’re going to practice in advance and prep in advance.

USING THE RIGHT TOOLS

Your practice sessions will be made better by using the right tools! Make sure you’ve got everything you need for your instrument in your practice space, and don’t forget a music stand! The Method App provides great practice tools with each exercise, including a tuner and metronome. Want to write down and track what your practice looks like? Download our Practice Log, print it out, and fill it out after each time you practice!
